The bedroom is a special world that should be filled with silence, comfort, and well-being. It is the only place in our home where we can be completely relaxed. For a carefree sleep, you don’t need much: a comfortable bed, quality bedding, a pillow, and of course, a duvet that warms you and hides you from the whole world.

One of the recent innovations is silk duvets. Products with silk covers are already well-known to customers, but now the filling itself is made from this unique material.

Why silk?

• Silk absorbs moisture well, but the duvet never feels wet and quickly evaporates it without creating a greenhouse effect.

• Silk fiber is a protein, so no pathogenic microorganisms or parasites can multiply in it, and mold does not form.

• Silk filling never clumps or wrinkles.

• Silk duvets are very light and do not build up static electricity. Their minimal weight makes them ideal for children and adolescents.

• The duvet can be used all year round – in summer it maintains the ideal microclimate and removes excess moisture, in winter even a thin and light silk duvet keeps you warm.

Silk duvets are suitable for every season, but for people who often feel cold or live in northern regions, a filling weight of 390 g/m² is recommended. Universal duvets have a filling weight of 340 g/m², and light (summer) duvets weigh 160 g/m².

There are few disadvantages. They are more expensive than down or synthetic duvets, but the price is worth it due to their long lifespan – the duvet lasts more than 15 years. Another drawback is frequent counterfeiting of silk duvets and pillows. Therefore, it is recommended to buy them only in trusted stores that can provide certificates – for example, from us.

How are silk duvets made?

Most silk duvets and pillows come from China, but there is no reason to worry – the country has advanced technology to handle this delicate material. In fact, 80% of all silk products are made in China, the “cradle” of silk with the oldest tradition of its production and processing.

Silk duvets are made from cocoons of domesticated or wild mulberry silkworms. They are specially processed to create flexible and strong layers for duvets. Unlike silk yarn production, the cocoons are not unraveled – they are carefully placed on special frames layer by layer to form the filling. At first glance, it resembles cotton or synthetic batting, but upon closer inspection, the fibers are straight, not curly like synthetics. If you lift the silk filling, you can see the individual layers that were once cocoons.

Proper Care for a Silk Duvet

A silk duvet is a delicate and expensive product, so it is important to know how to handle it for longevity:

• Do not wash in a washing machine.

• Best to clean in a dry cleaner.

• Always use a duvet cover.

• Occasionally air out and lightly dry the duvet.

• If drying in a cover, it can be in the sun; without a cover, keep it out of direct sunlight.

• Store in a dry place.

• Do not store in vacuum bags.

• Do not place heavy objects on it during long-term storage.

• Stains from body oils on the silk cover can be removed with alcohol.

• Occasionally shake the duvet to restore the fluffiness of the fibers.
